10 Good Test-Taking Strategies

 The 10 test-taking strategies is:

  • Take deep breaths during the test, so you relax and tense your muscles. You should repeat the process throughout the test to stay relaxed. This process will allow you to have energy for remembering, thinking, and writing.
  • Answer the easiest questions first, so you can help yourself calm down. 
  • “Keep an eye on the clock, to make sure you have time to complete the test section with the highest value, if not the entire test.”
  • “Read directions carefully. Ask questions if you don’t understand or need clarification.”
  • Choose a good spot in the room, to avoid distractions or any signs of cheating.
  • Keep a good attitude and remind yourself that you are well-prepared and you are going to do well.
  • Listen attentively to lat minute instructions given by the instructor.
  • Read the test carefully and watch for details.
  • Make sure you when you finish, you have time to review the entire test.
  • Plan a time to finish, good enough so that it’s not too early, and not too late.
